Speech-language pathologists, sometimes called speech therapists, assess and intervene with oral motor weakness or dysarthria, articulation and phonological processing disorders, feeding/swallowing difficulties, language disorders, learning disabilities as well as apraxia, traumatic brain injury, fluency disorders, and children who use/need augmentative communication devices.
The T.E.A.M. Approach also utilizes STANDARDIZED TESTING, i.e. Goldman Fristoe Test of Articulation, Comprehensive Assessment for Spoken Language, Functional Voice Assessment, Oral Motor Analysis, etc. to identify a child's oral, language, and speech performance relative to his/her age group. These examinations will determine the deficits and problem areas to address developmental delays and other diagnoses.
